Growing for Good: Accelerating Europe's Sustainable Food Transition
Overview
Farmers are currently at the forefront of many challenges: they play a critical role in addressing climate change and the energy crisis while ensuring food production and environmental conservation. However, their voices are often overlooked in policymaking, hindering the realization of Green Deal objectives: policy ambitions are not always in line with what is feasible on the ground. To address this, a platform is needed to empower farmers, amplify their concerns, and seek common solutions. How can policymakers ensure effective inclusion of farmers' perspectives and prioritize their livelihoods in discussions on sustainable change? How can the gap between the sustainability expectations of the food industry and consumers and what is achievable, and benefits farmers be bridged?
This event is a part of the Growing for Good series, hosted by The Financial Times Live in partnership with Corteva. This high-level exclusive discussion and knowledge sharing opportunity will provide a platform for farmers, senior food industry, agriculture sector and policy thought leaders to discuss best practices and challenges, as well as hear from farmers on the right incentives, knowledge, and technology needed to transition towards more sustainable agriculture practices. Together with the other events of the series, focused on the food industry and traders, these circular discussions will explore and inspire innovative and collaborative strategies on how to transition towards a more sustainable food system.
The event will be hosted under ‘Chatham House Rule’ to allow for a free flowing conversation between the panel and the invite-only high level audience.
